About Hypertension and our research

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is one of the most significant risk factors for chronic disease in the world. People with hypertension are at increased risk for heart attacks, strokes, and kidney disease. Researchers at the University of Minnesota are working to reduce the burden of high blood pressure in a number of ways including studies to better understand the underlying causes of hypertension and ways to identify patients at high risk who might benefit from new therapies.
